Trademark Biography

Trademark's origins stem from the childhood playtime of cousins Oli Horton and Stuart Meads. Aged just 7 and 9 and armed with a Yamaha Portasound they were already revelling in the possibilities of the synthesizer and pop music.

Trademark proper would come to fruition some 12 years later with the addition of Paul Soulsby in 1999. Their debut at Truck Festival 2000 and two years later at Truck in 2002. The band self released 'Fear : Disconnection' (no longer available) in January 2003 a self released album that began to earn them a fan base. This was followed up in 2004 with "This is our Trademark" which in turn lead to deal with Truck Records to release debut long player proper ‘Trademark Want More’.

"Want More" was released in June 2004 to the critical acclaim of The Sunday Times among others. Accompanied by an ever evolving live show of light up lab coats, giant flashing Perspex plugs, Science Lectures, light boxes and seasonal accessories (Mince Pies and Balloons) ensured a night with Trademark was never dull. Their extravagant live show and critically aclaimed album lead to subsequent support slots with Chicks On Speed and at the end of the year a 20 date tour of the UK with The Human League. The album also caught the attention of XFM who asked the band to record a live session.

2006 saw Trademark asked to do a number of remixes. This began with the theme music for Five's “Brainteaser” and lead to remixes for a number of artists including Boy Kill Boy, Cass Fox and Red Organ, Serpent Sound. They topped off the year by supporting electronic legend John Foxx.

2007 and a brand new album recorded over the previous year was released. "Raise the Stakes", brought an enlarged Trademark sound with string octet, pipe organ and choir featuring. One track from this album "Toe the Line" was chosen for the soundtrack of the feature film "Goal 2 - Living the Dream".

After the success of "Raise the Stakes", Trademark have again been locked in the studio for the past while with a number of projects on the go. Girl band Red Blooded Women launched in early 2008 with a number of Trademark produced tracks.
